feellikeibelong: (052 - Broken)

She heard the bolt slide into place, and she merely gave a nod at his statement. It was a bad area, and Helena was lucky she hadn't been accosted in some fashion when she'd been looking for Dorian. She hadn't exactly noticed anything happening either. For all she knew, people could've followed her to that bar.

Looking up at him, she listened to his apology. At the mention that he was moving, she felt her heart sink and break again, if that was even possible. "You were not going to come back, were you?" It clicked suddenly in her head. It figured as much. Just when she'd thought she'd found someone, he was going to simply leave and not tell her, letting her think whatever she'd wanted of him. "I would have appreciated it if you had told me instead of simply leaving without a word." There was a spark of anger and hurt, however brief, but it was there. Perhaps she'd been stupid to come seek him now if he was only going to leave anyway. And she must've been even more of a fool to think he had cared for her.

She drew in a deep breath. "Christina had said there was a monster outside, though when I looked, I did not see anyone. I calmed her and put her back to sleep. Perhaps if I'd taken it more seriously or looked harder she would still be alive." Or they'd both be dead, not that she overly cared which outcome she'd gotten at this precise moment.
